Exploits River Creel Census
This project would not have been possible without funding from the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation (ASCF).
ERMA team members conducted a creel census on the main stem of the Exploit’s River during the 2020 summer Atlantic salmon angling season. The principal objective of this project is to establish a current data baseline for Atlantic salmon angling on the main stem of the Exploit’s River. Through interviewing anglers ERMA is able to quantify rod days, harvest rates, collect demographic information of anglers and biological data through the physical sampling of angled fish. Data gathered through this project will also enhance DFO’s summer recreational fishery Atlantic Salmon 3 Licence Stub program for the greater Exploits watershed area.
ERMA would like to thank the anglers who took the time to participate in the creel census. As well as the ERMA team members who pulled together to make this project happen during a challenging world health crisis.
